The Fervi T700 metal lathe consists of a horizontal axis machine tool that allows the processing of metal materials through the removal of cold shavings. The operation of this type of machine is to be considered completely manual as it is capable of performing only movements under the direct command of the operator. The equipment is designed to be used on an intermittent type during the working day and not on a continuous basis. It is in fact a service machine and not a production machine.
The structure of the Fervi lathe is equipped with a supporting bed made entirely of cast iron. By combining a high longitudinal structure with resistant transverse supports, it was possible to obtain a very rigid base that transmits few vibrations. Additionally, the lathe comes with a partially assembled bench complete with 3 drawers and cabinet.
The Fervi metal lathe is supplied complete with a tool-holder trolley that slides along the guides of the bed, which is essential for fixing the tool and transmitting the positioning and feed motions to it. The advancements of the trolley can be managed manually through the handwheels and levers located on the trolley itself. In addition, the lathe is equipped with a gear transmission system (with Semi-Norton box) capable of guaranteeing a considerable availability of feeds and threads. To use this system, the knobs marked with Roman numerals and letters are used: by varying the position and diameter of the gears, as shown in the tables above the knobs, you will have different feeds and threading pitches.
The tailstock is equipped with a heavy duty mandrel with CM - MT 2 connection and a vernier. Furthermore, the lathe is equipped with steady rests, which are essential for operations in which it is not possible to use the tailstock to fix the workpiece (e.g. drilling, boring and facing) but also for the machining of long and heavy pieces where it is not enough. use only a self-centering chuck, but it is precisely necessary to fix the opposite end of the piece by means of a steady rest.
The cylinder head is a high quality cast iron casting which transmits low vibrations. The spindle is installed on the head shaft and is supported by two precision bearings. The spindles supplied are of two different types: the first is self-centering with 3 jaws, while the second is composed of 4 independent reversible jaws. Both have a diameter of 125mm.
Two different versions of the T700 metal lathe are available. The first version is equipped with a belt speed change, in this case it is possible to adjust the spindle rotation speed only using the belts (positioning them as indicated on the plate affixed to the control panel). The second model also has a variable speed gearbox: the lathe is therefore equipped with both belts and a potentiometer that allows you to continuously change the spindle rotation speed while the machine is running. Next to the potentiometer there is a display that allows you to view the spindle rotation speed.
