Oil booms floating

Oil booms are the floating key component in the management of oily liquid spills in aquatic environments such as harbours, rivers, lakes and seas. Designed to contain and prevent the spread of oils, hydrocarbons and paints in water, these barriers offer an effective solution to mitigate environmental impacts and protect aquatic wildlife and marine ecosystems. They are recognised by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Safety as suitable for use at sea.

The structure of the floating oil booms is characterised by waterproof and highly absorbent materials, enclosed in an outer covering consisting of a double sock with a rope resistant to mechanical pulls. This construction allows the booms to float on the surface of the water, creating a physical barrier that prevents the spread of spills and facilitates the absorption process of oily liquids. In addition, the booms are equipped with stainless steel hooks with which they can be connected together.

Floating oil booms can be placed along harbour or jetty perimeters, around vessels or offshore structures, or used to create temporary fences around sensitive areas such as mangroves or beaches. Their flexibility also allows them to be moulded to adapt to sea currents or changes in land morphology, providing complete coverage and greater effectiveness in absorbing spills.

Two models of absorbent floating oil booms are available (each pack contains 4 pieces). The first type of barrier measures 3000x130 mm and has an absorption capacity of 35 litres; the second measures 3000x200x200 mm and has an absorption capacity of 62.5 litres.  The use of these oil booms allows compliance with Italian regulations on safety at work (Legislative Decree 9 April 2008, no. 81) and environmental protection (Legislative Decree 3 April 2006, no. 152).
