Bunded pallets in polyethylene or steel
Polyethylene or steel sump, spill and bunded pallets are the professional and compliant solution for the storage of drums, cisterns, bottles and jerry cans. In fact, in full compliance with environmental hygiene and safety regulations, the containment pallets are the perfect products to avoid accidental spills of oils, solvents and polluting liquids inside the workplace and, more generally, the environment. The wide range is complete with over 60 bunded pallets ideal for drums and tanks, but also for small and large containers.
To meet all needs, bunded pallets are available in both steel and polyethylene. Steel bunded pallets are available with galvanizing and painting treatment and are equipped with shaped feet. On the other hand, virgin PE polyethylene bunded pallets guarantee total corrosion protection, making them suitable for the containment and storage of acids, alkaline solutions, oils and chemicals.
The range is complete with spill pallets for drums also in the with-walls and wheels versions and sump pallets for ibc with or without walls. In addition, it is possible to select small bunded pallets for storing small containers, but also large ones when looking for a unique solution for storing different drums, containers and tanks together.
Bunded pallets are available in a wide range of solutions, sizes and heights, they can be equipped with wall structures for overlapping, splash guard walls and different containment capacities to meet all usage and space needs. Finally, they are built in accordance with UNI 10025, equipped with a plate with technical data and safety labels and tested with destructive tests by qualified operators according to UNI EN 473.
What are bunded pallets used for?
Bunded pallets or spill pallets—placed under drums, cisterns, or other containers—are used to collect accidental spills of hazardous liquids that cannot fall to the ground. In fact, if these substances met the soil, they would enter the environment and pollute it.
What is the difference between polyethylene and steel bunded pallets?
Polyethylene guarantees total protection against corrosion, making it suitable for the containment and storage of corrosive substances such as acids and bases. In addition, polyethylene bunded pallets are particularly resistant to impact. Steel, on the other hand, is ideal for chemicals that are harmful and flammable but not corrosive.
Are bunded pallets compliant with regulations?
There are no mandatory regulations governing the construction of bunded pallets, but there is an obligation to use containment tanks when accidental spillage of stored substances could pose a risk to environmental safety.
Are bunded pallets certified?
No, unless they are StawaR-certified spill pallets, no certification is required.
Can bunded pallets be moved?
Yes, empty bunded pallets can be moved with the aid of a forklift truck with adequate lifting capacity.
How are spill pallets emptied?
The emptying of the bunded pallets must be carried out by specialized companies. Unless otherwise indicated, these containers do not have a drain but can be emptied with the aid of a pump.
Can the spill pallets be placed outdoors?
No, because in case of rain, the liquid contained in the bunded pallets could rise and overflow. This would defeat the very purpose of the container, which is used precisely to prevent hazardous liquids from dispersing into the environment. If you want to place drums or tanks outdoors, you shoould opt for specific depots.
How is the capacity of spill pallets calculated?
In Italy, bunded pallets must hold at least 1/3 of the total volume of the containers stored, unless one of them has a larger volume. In the latter case, the volume of the bunded pallet must be equivalent to that of the largest container. Furthermore, if waste oil is stored, the spill pallet must hold a volume equivalent to the total volume of the containers stored. It is necessary to check the laws in force in the country of use.
