IBC containers and IBC totes
IBC tanks and IBC totes are the ideal solutions for the transport and storage of liquids of chemical and food origin. They are professional products designed and manufactured for all companies operating in the industrial sector. They can be used both indoors and outdoors thanks to the UV-resistant polyethylene construction. Furthermore, the range is complete with versions with different capacities to satisfy every need.
The quality of the plastic tanks is guaranteed by the attention paid to the choice of raw materials and to the production techniques: the polyethylene used is of the highest quality and the so-called "rotation" technique makes it possible to obtain unique monoblocks without joints for a long-term estate. Furthermore, the plastic tanks produced in this way are elastic and impact resistant.
The range is complete with IBC tanks on wooden, plastic or hybrid pallets, contained in reinforced metal structures, equipped with loading hatch and unloading unit housed in a niche so as not to suffer damage due to any impact. Furthermore, they are available in the version for food and in accordance with ADR / ONU for the transport and storage of dangerous goods.
To meet ever-changing needs, palletized plastic tanks are available for the storage and transport of liquids and UN approved IBC tanks in accordance with ADR for the transport and storage of dangerous goods on the road.
What can plastic IBC containers contain and transport?
Depending on the specifications for each product, plastic IBC tanks may be suitable for containing:
- food;
- food and chemicals that do not require ADR/UN (or UN) approval;
- hazardous chemicals that require ADR/UN (or UN) approval;
- food and hazardous chemicals that require ADR/UN (or UN) approval.
What do the acronyms ADR, IMDG, and UN (or UN) mean?
A plastic IBC container supplied with UN approval can contain and transport dangerous goods. UN approval is issued by certified bodies only if the tank complies with the Regulations for the transport of dangerous substances. There are multiple regulations because each one deals with a specific mode of transport: ADR (for road transport), RID (rail), ADN (inland waterways), IMDG (sea), and ICAO/OACI or IATA (air). The UN approval certificate, which therefore contains the abbreviations ADR and IMDG, makes the packaging suitable for the transport of dangerous goods only by road and sea.
How long does UN approval last?
The maximum duration of UN approval is 5 years. UN-approved plastic packaging always bears the month and year of manufacture. Thirty months after manufacture, even if unused, such packaging must undergo a review cycle, which may renew the approval for another 30 months. In fact, the life of UN approval is 30 months + 30 months from manufacture. It is important to remember that approval expires after the first use of the IBC tank. After each cycle of use, the packaging must undergo a regeneration cycle with re-approval by the regenerator.
